For the last three years I've spent the Christmas season in Edinburgh, so this year I think it can officially be called a tradition.

Tradition denotes that we must attend the German Christmas markets which are my favourite. I can't compare them to actual German markets as I haven't been yet, but compared to the saccharine falsity of London's Winter Wonderland, Edinburgh's markets are a delight. Maybe it's because it's properly cold or maybe because it's not a ridiculously over crowded funfair, whatever it is, the atmosphere is different. We wander through the huts, checking out the free food, crafts and trinkets, all just to get to our main reason for attending, which is to drink a variety of hot and spiced drinks. Mead, mulled wine, pine spiced hot chocolate and toffee apple Pimms! The thought of them now is making me wish for next year already! Following on from this are our Christmas Eve cocktails, Christmas Day meat festival and a family battle over boardgames. Safe to say this is one traditional Christmas I hope to have for a few more years.
