Napier is a town on the east coast of North Island that was rebuilt in the early 1930s after a massive earthquake destroyed the town and forced the bay up 2 metres. Those running the town at the time commissioned all the buildings in the Art Deco style of the era and the lasting results mean stepping into this town is like stepping back in time. Every year they hold a 1930s festival with old cars, music and costumes. I loved it here even though it was pretty quiet and there wasn't much to do, it was nice just wandering the streets and checking out little cafes and tea shops.
|This guy is a legend. What Ho!|
It was a strange mix of modern and vintage, but still managed to blend.
